Man wanted on outstanding warrants now faces more felony charges after resisting arrest in Parma
PARMA, Mo. — Working together, law enforcement officers took a wanted man into custody.
Eric Demetrius Mims, 31, who had two outstanding warrants, is now facing additional charges of first degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest. He is being held in the Mississippi County Jail.
According to the probable cause statement, the New Madrid County Sheriff Department was notified at 1:02 p.m. Thursday, May 30 by a police officer of a pursuit underway in Parma. Officers were attempting to stop Mims, who had outstanding warrants for domestic violence and probation violation.
During the pursuit Mims ran into a residence and refused to come out. Officers surrounded the residence and began to attempt negotiations.
Detective Zachariah Albright wrote in the probable cause statement that while the negotiations were underway, a woman contacted him and stated in the early morning hours of May 30, Mims had become angry with her, striking her in the face several times then pointing a silver revolver at her head and firing it, with the bullet lodging in the wall.
Because Mims refused to exit the residence, a search warrant was applied for and received. Officers entered the residence, where they found Mims hiding in a closet and took him into custody.
Inside the residence, deputies also located a gunshot hole in the wall and were able to remove a spent bullet. Also found was a box of .38 caliber ammunition, two rounds of live ammunition on the floor of the living room and a large amount of marijuana.
