VALPARAISO, Ind. — Zeta Jewell Freeland, formerly of Sikeston, Missouri, died at 2:53 a.m. June 29, 2024, in Valparaiso.

Zeta was born Dec. 21, 1933, to the late Rufus and Viola White. She was 90 years old at her passing and had been suffering from memory issues for the past few years.

Zeta married James H. Freeland on Aug. 22, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2007. They were of the Missionary Baptist belief.

Including her parents and husband, Zeta is also preceded in death by two sisters, Billie Jean Huitt and Evelyn Campbell.

Zeta was a devoted wife and mother and an exceptional homemaker. She cherished spending time with her family who meant everything to her. She was our anchor and our light. She will be remembered for her generous nature and most giving heart, her kind and loving soul and her beautiful, sweet smile. We loved her dearly and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley, Missouri, where services will be conducted by the Rev. Donnie Ford.
