Woman charged in shooting incident
SIKESTON — A Sikeston woman faces felony charges for shooting and injuring a man late Monday, July 8.
Xzeria Rayelle Randle is charged through New Madrid County with felony second degree assault and felony armed criminal action, according to online court records.
According to the redacted probable cause statement by Kenneth Russell with Sikeston Department of Public Safety, at 9:28 p.m. Monday, July 8, officers with Sikeston DPS responded to a residence in Sikeston city limits and New Madrid County in reference to a male who had been shot. Upon officers’ arrival, they located a spent 9 mm gun casing and a man who had a single-gunshot wound to his left leg near his knee. The man told officers he had been shot by Randle.
Following an investigation, Randle was arrested at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 9 in Sikeston, and she was read her Miranda rights. Upon being Mirandized, Randle said she shot the man in defense.
Randle was subsequently taken to jail with bond set at $250,000 cash only.
