New Madrid man killed, Hayti woman injured in motorcycle crash

RISCO, Mo. — A New Madrid, Missouri, man was killed and a Hayti, Missouri, woman seriously injured in a single-motorcycle crash late Saturday, July 13 in New Madrid County.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 9 p.m. on US 62, four miles east of Risco, as the eastbound motorcycle operated by Calvin D. Morgan, 67, of New Madrid failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the right side of the road and overturned. Morgan and his passenger, Gale M. Moore, 68, of Hayti were ejected.

Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:50 p.m. by New Madrid County Coroner George DeLisle and taken to DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville, Missouri.

Moore received serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
