SIKESTON — The City of Sikeston is in the process of preparing for its annual boards and commissions appointments.

“Serving on a board or commission is an important way to make a positive difference and get involved in city government,” said Sikeston City Clerk Rhonda Council. “… We currently have 27 positions available on 13 different boards. Some terms are up for reappointment and others have expiring terms.”

The City accepts Citizens Resource Bank Applications throughout the year, but to be considered for this round of appointments, applications must be submitted to Council at Sikeston City Hall or via email to: rdcounc@sikeston.org by 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16.

To be eligible for appointment, taxpayers must have no outstanding municipal taxes, fees or fines. In September, Council will be asked to make appointments to these boards and commissions.

“If you know of someone who would be interested in serving on one of these boards, ask them to fill out an application and return to City Hall by the above date,” Council said.

Citizens Resource Bank Applications are available at City Hall, the Public Library or on the city website: www.sikeston.org. For more information, contact Council by email or phone at 475-3701.
