CRESCENT CITY, Fla. — Helen Tippett, 85, passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at her Crescent City residence.

Born in Compton, California, Helen had lived in Putnam County, Florida since 1996 coming from Sikeston, Missouri. While living in Sikeston, she owned and operated donut shops and supplied donuts to a chain known as “Bill & Odes Donut Shops” in Missouri, Kentucky and Illinois. She made wedding cakes and was an excellent cook and had formulated several original recipes. She also taught dance lessons at Arthur Murray Dance Studios.

She had been involved in church ministry since she was 27. Along with her late-husband, Pastor Ben Tippett, she co-founded Victory Christian Fellowship in East Palatka, FL in 1996. When she died, Helen was still a member of the church she and her late-husband founded, though the name was changed in recent years to Victory House.

Helen was preceded in death by husbands, Edward W. Spinaio, Otis Proffer, and Ben Tippett; and two sisters, Letty Murphy and Lois Palmer.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Rene and Dennis Morrow; Joanie Hull (whom she thought of as a daughter) and her husband Calvin Hull; two stepsons, Benny Tippett and Timmy Tippett; two stepdaughters, Stacey Proffer and Sarina McClellan (Jimmy); 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be at Victory House in East Palatka from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at Victory with Rev. Dennis Morrow, Pastor Andre Hernandez and Brother Benny Tippet and others officiating. Interment will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens.

Masters Funeral Home of Palatka, Florida, is in charge of arrangements.
