Nearly 17% of Mississippi County’s voters cast ballots; There were no contested county races

CHARLESTON, Mo. — During Tuesday’s primary election in Mississippi County, all of the county officials were unopposed in their bids for election.

Mississippi County Clerk Emily Pullen said Tuesday’s election results are considered unofficial until they are certified at noon Friday, Aug. 9.

Nearly 17%, or 1,341, of Mississippi County’s 8,022 registered voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s election.

On the Republican ballot, incumbent Britton Ferrell was unopposed in his bid for re-election as sheriff. Ferrell received 978 votes as the sole candidate.

Also running unopposed on the Republican ticket, were the following candidates: Mitch Pullen, 404 votes, First District commissioner; Darrell Jones, 575 votes, Second District commissioner; Lisa Finley Norton, 990 votes, assessor; and Melissa Davis, 941 votes, public administrator.

Republican candidate Zac Horack, 913 votes, was the sole candidate in 33rd Circuit Judge race.

On the Democrat ticket, incumbent Terry A. Parker was also without opposition in the coroner race. Parker received 192 votes.

The county officials will not have to run against an opposing party in November.

For Constitutional Amendment 1, voters in Mississippi County were against it in a vote of 686 to 568.

For Constitutional Amendment 4, voters in Mississippi County were in favor of passing the law with 621 voting in favor of it and 600 against it.
