SIKESTON — Rodeo Week kicked off Saturday, Aug. 3 in Historic Downtown Sikeston with several events for visitors to enjoy. Among those events was the third annual mutton bustin’ competition hosted by the Sikeston Jaycees at the Sikeston Depot Museum parking lot. The mutton bustin’ finalists will compete at the rodeo this week for their chance to be the 2024 Mutton Bustin’ Champion. Other rodeo-themed events on Saturday included the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo Parade, Cowboy Shuffle 5K Run and Sikeston Depot Museum’s Cowboy Up! Arts Festival. The 72nd Annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo starts Wednesday, Aug. 7 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 10. See pages 4B-5B of the Wednesday, Aug. 7 edition for more photos and rodeo information.
