CHAFFEE, Mo. — Richard Paul Hodge, 69, of Chaffee passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, surrounded by family after a 10-year battle with prostate cancer.

He was born on July 19, 1955, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Elery Lee Hodge and Lora “Delo” Dunn Hodge. Richard was a 1974 graduate of Chaffee High School.

Richard and Carol Glastetter were married on July 30, 1977, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. They recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.

He previously was employed at HWI (Do It Best) before he became disabled after a stroke in 2008 which took most of his ability to talk. Richard loved to mow, garden and work in the yard. He also loved his seven grandsons and oh how he loved Tyson’s football games!

Loving survivors include: three daughters, Julie (Matt) Underwood, Jill (Jason) Morgan, and Jodi (Andy) Palisch; seven grandsons, Tyson and Trey Underwood, Tanner and Gavin Morgan, Dru, Russ and Lee Palisch; one sister, Nelda (the late Wayne) Gross; also, by other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Leo and Luella Glastetter; two sisters; and six brothers, also by a nephew, Kevin Ancell.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee with parish prayers at 4 p.m.

Eucharistic Celebration will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at 10 a.m. in the St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kelly officiating.

Interment will follow in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
