CHARLESTON, Mo. — A weekend traffic stop in Charleston resulted in the arrest of an Illinois man on drug trafficking charges.

“On the morning of Aug. 17, our agency was notified of a possible stolen vehicle by the Flock license plate reader system,” said Charleston Department of Public Safety Director Robert E. Hearnes. “The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen from Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Officers stopped the vehicle near exit 12.”

The driver, Darryl Jackson, 23, of Cairo, Illinois, was taken into custody for the stolen vehicle.

“During the investigation, officers discovered approximately 155 grams of marijuana and almost 800 grams of methamphetamine and other items associated with the distribution of drugs,” Hearnes said.
