SIKESTON — It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Everett Scales, Jr., who left this world on Aug. 21, 2024, in Georgia. He was born Nov. 18, 1948, in Missouri. The family welcomes all who knew and loved him to express condolences and share memories. The impact James made on his family, friends and country will forever be cherished and remembered with deep respect.
James began his distinguished career in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic - a role in which he demonstrated unwavering dedication and meticulous expertise. His work was a testament to his commitment to excellence and his patriotic spirit. Those who served alongside him knew him as a man of honor and skill.
James found immense joy and relaxation in watching NASCAR, his favorite pastime. This interest exemplified his love for speed, precision, and the thrill of the race - qualities that he also brought to his professional life.
James was preceded in death by his father, James Everett Scales Sr.; his mother, Jewell Faye Scales; his brother, William Scales; and his sister-in-law, Sally Scales.
His passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of his surviving siblings: Charles Scales and Betty LeGree, along with her husband Michael.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Sikeston Garden of Memories Cemetery at 10 a.m. with Brother Brian Blankenship officiating.
