New Madrid County R-1 Board sets tax rate
NEW MADRID, Mo. — The tax rate for those living in the New Madrid County R-1 School District will remain the same.
During a special meeting Aug. 26, the R-1 School Board set the tax rate at $3.84 per $100 valuation. The tax will provide approximately $11.7 million to fund the operation of the District, according to Heather Schuerenberg, director of business and finance.
The school year is going well, noted Superintendent Bridgett Masterson following the meeting.
“We are happy to get school started and looking forward to a happy and productive school year,” Masterson said. “Overall it is a good beginning.”
Also during the meeting, the Board dealt with personnel matters.
The resignations of Christy Tittle as seventh grade science teacher and Kayleigh Austin as a special education teacher assistant were accepted.
Ann Weeks was transferred from teacher assistant to special education teacher. Employed by the district were Ethan Kempton as the Spanish teacher and Daniel Martinez as a teacher assistant at Central High School and Camryn Hardin as a special education aide.
