The Last Word: Week 3 football preview

Need to address a thing or two lol.

First off, I didn't make a big deal out anyone running a story about us losing to Lamar last year. Others might have but I surely don't remember me doing so.

Second thing, I wasn't upset that you didn't pick us to beat Malden by more than you did. It played out much like I thought. Close first half but pulled away in the second. Malden is better than a lot of people think, and I can even bet you that they will beat Charleston when they play. Malden is very physical up front, and have some very stout backs. What set me off was the comment that "Anyone can score on this defense". Not that I think it's true or not, but that just seemed to be disrespectful to me as a Tiger fan.

Last thing, we will never move on from this if you keep making snarky comments about it all the time. We had a disagreement, and now it's done, let's just leave it at that. I enjoy the "The Last Word" segments, it keeps me updated with area teams.

Now to Charleston. I agree with you about it being an intriguing match up. Charleston's defense is probably a little better than last years defense. Will they "Contain" Monroe? Doubt it. Charleston has a lot of speed on their team and it will be tough to break a long one on them but not sure they have the physicality to tackle Darrell in the open field one on one. I see Darrell getting around 150 yards, his average, and us using the pass a little more this week. Charleston will put up a great effort though as this is starting to become a rivalry on the field. I say R Bogan get's over the 100 yard mark as well but without much of a passing game, I don't see them coming within 2 td's. I say Cville wins 38-14.

Also, I stayed with your theme of "24". I have us winning by 24 lol. That really wasn't intentional either, just now noticed it.

I was the one that said something about the Lamar story last year, its not really the matter that we lost because most tiger fans were expecting that. What seemed out of place is that you did not post anything about us beating Maplewood a team that put us out of the playoffs 3 times in 4 years. We finally got over that hump and we played a heck of a game and got no story or even a link on the SEMOBALL website.

Caruthersville is not the same team they were last year, we lost 5 seniors that were impact players especially in the secondary. I do believe this team has a good rush defense and hopefully they will start getting more pressure on the QB's.

I have nothing against you 2 guys you do a heck of a job but choice of words and the way you put things could make people (especially die hard fans) take what you say out of context. I think me and cheese have forgot about the matter for the most part and you guys are sports editors so you have to have a little thicker skin too..and the message board can be informative and most of the people there are good people but sometimes you have to dig through the crap to find the good stuff.
