SIKESTON -- Faced with tighter budgets, some local school districts still decided to provide their usual summer school programs this year while others opted not to offer the program for the first time in years.
"We really thought that we weren't going to get any (financial) help from the state and so we weren't going to be able to afford to put summer school on," Scott County Central Elementary Principal Stacey Russell said.
