MINER -- A hostage situation Monday at a hotel in Miner was resolved without any serious injuries.

Gary Corder Jr., 31, of Sikeston was arrested after a six-hour standoff, taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center for treatment and then taken to the Scott County Jail.

"He suffered minor injuries as a result of the arrest," said Miner Police Chief Chris Griggs.

Griggs said his department had earlier that day received reports of suspicious activity in a room at the Super 8 but were unable to find the suspect.

At about 5:15 p.m.,"McDonalds called and said he was trying to pass fake money," Griggs said.

Officers went to the room at the Super 8 where the door was answered by a woman.

As the officer was asking about the suspect's location, "he walks up behind her, puts his arm around her neck and a knife to her throat and tells the officer, 'If you try to get any closer to me I'll kill her' and slams the door," Griggs said.
