SIKESTON -- Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers arrested a Tennessee man Monday suspected of murder.
Demarcus Gonner, 19, of Nashville, Tenn., was arrested on the Applebee's parking lot in Sikeston by DPS officers at about 11:19 p.m. Monday.
DPS Capt. Bill Mygatt said DPS had been advised by Metropolitan Nashville Police Department officials that Gonner was a suspect in a murder and indicated he may be traveling in this area with a female.
DPS officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's vehicle on the restaurant's parking lot shortly before the arrest, according to Capt. Jim McMillen, public information officer for the Sikeston DPS.
"We just set up and waited for them to exit," McMillen said. "There wasn't a whole lot to it."
As of press time, Gonner remained in the Scott County Jail in Benton awaiting extradition to Nashville.
