SIKESTON -- The Southeast Missouri Christmas Campaign began five years ago as neighbors helping neighbors, and today community remains the focus of the Christmas food and toy drive.

"All of our support is local," said David McDermott, Campaign spokesperson. "We raise money from local businesses and individuals through fund raising, buy from local businesses and give to local families,"

Carried out by the 33rd Judicial Circuit's Juvenile Court, the SEMO Christmas Campaign, which is also known as "Neighbors Helping Neighbors," hands out toy and food baskets to families in Southeast Missouri, with the focus in Scott, New Madrid and Mississippi counties.
