SIKESTON -- Bette Jean Sorrells, 78, died at 7:10 a.m. Feb. 28, 2012, at her home.
Born Feb. 11, 1934, in the Whiting community near East Prairie, to the late Lillard Dee and Clara Thrower Davis, she lived most of her life in Sikeston where she was a retired rural mail carrier with the Sikeston Post Office. She was a member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie.
On Dec. 29, 1951, at Pocahontas, Ark., she married Donald Ray Sorrells who preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 2006.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, L.D. Davis and Jim Davis, one sister, Vera Grady, and one granddaughter, Courtney Leigh Sorrells.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Warren and Brenda Leigh Sorrells of Sikeston; one brother Tom Davis of Stockbridge, Ga.; and one sister, Freda Dill of East Prairie.
Visitation is scheduled after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with Larry Lane officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Chuck Davis, Ben Marshall, Michael Davis, Joe Sorrells, Mike Davis and Keith Marshall.
