SIKESTON — Billie “Bill” Lawson Jr., age 73, passed away on Sept. 5, 2021, at his home in Sikeston.

He was born on July 3, 1948, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to the late Billie and Maria Egidi Lawson Sr.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston.

Bill had served as the Chief Juvenile Officer for Scott and Mississippi Counties; he retired in 2014 after 32 years of service.

He helped to establish the soccer program at Sikeston High School as well as the youth soccer program in which he was very active as a coach and as a referee.

On June 18, 1987, in Sikeston, he married Lisa Couch Lawson who survives of the home in Sikeston.

Other survivors include: one son, Andrew (Marcie) Lawson of Sikeston; one daughter, Stephanie Lawson of St. Louis; and two grandchildren, Charlie and Olivia Lawson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, from 5 p.m. until time of rosary service at 7 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

A funeral Mass will be on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston with Celebrant, Father Colby Elbert, officiating.

A private burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
