SIKESTON — Bobby Ralph Slayton, age 64, passed away on July 23, 2022, at his mother’s home, surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was the son of the late Bob Slayton and Ruth Naney Box. He was born on Jan. 25, 1958, in East St. Louis, Illinois. On May 15, 1973, he married Cynthia Ann DeFrene in Des Allemands, Louisiana. SIKESTON — Bobby Ralph Slayton, age 64, passed away on July 23, 2022, at his mother’s home, surrounded by his loving family.

Bobby was the son of the late Bob Slayton and Ruth Naney Box. He was born on Jan. 25, 1958, in East St. Louis, Illinois.

On May 15, 1973, he married Cynthia Ann DeFrene in Des Allemands, Louisiana. They were blessed with three children: one son, Craig Joseph; and two daughters, Amy Lynne and Sarah Lynne.

He was preceded in death by his father and his son.

Bobby is survived by his mother; two sisters, Ruth Elizabeth “Beth” Slayton of Poulsbo, Washington, and DeAnna Rachelle Malloy of Dexter, Missouri; his two daughters, Amy and Sarah of Raceland, Louisiana; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bobby was of the Assembly of God faith. He loved his pets and fishing, which were his favorite past times and hobbies. In Louisiana, he worked as a tugboat Captain and Pilot on the Mississippi River Waterways. While in Washington, he obtained his commercial truck driving license and worked as a long haul driver traveling from coast to coast. For many years he worked for Malone and Hyde Distributing in Sikeston and for Malloy Concrete Construction in Dexter for many years.

He was a hardworking and very quiet man, who loved his family and man with true grit and determination until the very end.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 5 p.m. until time of funeral service at 6 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston with Pastor Mike Cartwright of Canalou Assembly of God Church officiating.

There will be a private family interment at a later date.
