Born Jan. 22, 1927, in St. Louis, daughter of the late George and Lula Skagges Brooks, she was a secretary for the McGraw-Hill Company in St. Louis where she had lived for many years before returning in 1996 to Puxico where she was a member of the Christian Church...

PUXICO - Doris Stroud, 79, died April 26, 2006, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.

Born Jan. 22, 1927, in St. Louis, daughter of the late George and Lula Skagges Brooks, she was a secretary for the McGraw-Hill Company in St. Louis where she had lived for many years before returning in 1996 to Puxico where she was a member of the Christian Church.

On Aug. 4, 1996, in Doe Run, she married William C. Stroud who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Sidney Warman of Lake of the Ozarks and William W. and Donna Stroud of Puxico; five stepdaughters and two sons-in-law, Carol Baldwin and Joan Carmer of Farmington; Jean and Dan O'Malley of St. Louis, Sheryll Dvorak of Oregon, Wis., and Vicki and Jack Seamans of Glendale, Ariz.; three sisters, Lee Gilligan of the state of California, Hazel Robertson of O'Fallon and Velma Brown of Dexter; and 18 stepgrandchildren and many great-

stepgrandchildren.

Visitation is at 6 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Wiley McGhee of Puxico and the Rev. Amos Dees of Wappapello will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Elliott Cemetery near Puxico.
