CHARLESTON -- James R. Franklin, 81, died at 7:15 a.m. March 3, 2006, at the Charleston Manor.
Born July 28, 1924, in Cairo, Ill., son of the late Harry and Gertrude Riggs Franklin, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He later lived in San Francisco where for 15 years he managed the Forrester restaurant chain. In 1978, he moved to Charleston where he was a member of the United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, one brother, John D. Franklin; and one sister, Betty Lee Davis, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: three brothers, Bill Franklin of Wyatt, Tommy Lee Franklin of Charleston and Harry Franklin of Anaheim, Calif.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Dan Usher, pastor of the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church in East Prairie, will officiate.
Graveside rites with full military honors by the Missouri Military Honor Guard will be conducted at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
