SIKESTON -- Pete Britt, 82, died Aug. 1, 2012, at his home.

Born May 12, 1930, in Anniston, to the late Calvin and Mae Moore Britt, he was a member of First United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a self-employed barber in Sikeston and had worked in sales for the Sikeston City Directory for Johnson Publishing.

On March 20, 1951, he married Frances LaPlant who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Karla Britt of Ballwin and Bill and Ann Britt of Franklin, Tenn.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Cliff Ham and Christy and Danny Nelson, all of Sikeston, and Jeannie and Bruce Baker of Kennett; four brothers, Jack Britt of Sikeston, Corky Britt of Harrison, Ark., and Jerry Britt and Larry Britt both of East Prairie; two sisters, Edith Denton of Ontario, Calif., and Earline Bell of East Prairie; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: B.J. Montgomery, Matthew Britt, Eric Britt, David Britt, Adam Nelson, Blake Nelson, Jordan Roberts and Joey Seiler.
