Shirley Collins

Shirley Collins or Portageville passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at Golden Living Center in New Madrid. She was 81 years old.

Shirley was born November 29, 1933 in West Frankfort, IL to Mary Ruth (Hatchett) Hoy and Sylvester Hoy. She was united in marriage June 6, 1948 in Benton, IL to Charles Collins. He preceded her in death January 11, 2004.

Also preceding Shirley in death were her parents, Mary Ruth and Sylvester, and her sister, Pansy Moss.

Shirley was a member of the Church of Christ in Portageville. She enjoyed sewing, wilting, pottery and watching westerns. She proudly worked as a realtor and with AT&T for many years.

Those who survive to cherish Shirley's memory include her daughter, Mary Lucille (Bob) Carter of Portageville; and her sons, Charles Laverne Collins of Missouri, Larry Dale (Sharon) Collins of Charleston, MO, and Robert Lynn Persinger of Morehead, KY.

Visitation and Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. Interment immediately followed at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Akins, IL.

Serving as pallbearers were Robert Allen Carter, Erin McDuff, Justin Birdwell and Phillip Persinger.
