HERCULANEUM - Ellis Loy "Sloy" Crowell, 64, formerly of rural Sikeston, died at 6:23 p.m. July 18, 2003, at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital in Festus.
Born March 9, 1939, in Sikeston, son of Naydeen Ellis Crowell of Bertrand and the late Oscar "Dink" Crowell, he was a member of Sikeston Eagles Aerie 3319 and was of the Baptist belief. Before retiring, he was a mechanic at Ford Motor Co. in St. Louis and SEMO Motors and Jarvis Motors in Sikeston and was also a farmer. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany.
Survivors in addition to hi mother include: one son, Kenneth Lee Crowell of St. Louis; two daughters, Angelina Clark of Cassville and Laura "Krissy" Valendy of St. Peters; one brother, Larry Crowell of Sikeston; four sisters, Sandra Lynch of Bertrand, Merilyn Patterson of Sikeston, Joyce Ann Aquino of Modesto, Calif., and Betty Sue O'Leary of Las Vegas, Nev.; and six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
One brother preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. DeWayne Coleman, pastor of Canalou Baptist Church, will officiate.
The Missouri Military Honors Program will conduct graveside military rites at the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
Pallbearers will be: Jerry Patterson, Carl Lynch, Arles McIntyre, James Head, Harold Head and Enos Hill.
