ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Troy Eugene "Gene" Carr, 75, died at 1:49 a.m. Nov. 30, 2011, at Fairview Nursing Plaza in Rockford.
Born Dec. 29, 1935, in Reverie, Tenn., to the late Troy Clifton and Ruby May Wren Carr, he had worked as a factory machinist and was of the Pentecostal belief.
In 1953, at New Madrid, Mo., he married Addie Mae Smith who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by a half brother, Franklin D. Frazier, and three sisters, Virginia May Lemmink, Ruby Allene Winfield and Sally Ruth Carden.
Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry Gene and Derinda Carr of Lamar, Miss., and Clifton Troy Carr of Rockford; one daughter, Rhonda Sabrina Caldwell of Martin, Tenn.; one half brother, Ernest M. Layton of Bertrand, Mo.; one sister, Lois Crabtree of South Beloit; one half sister, Dorothy Lee Tinnon of Sikeston, Mo.; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Larry Portwood, pastor of the Morehouse Assembly of God Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Clifton Carr, Larry Carr, Ed LaBay and Floyd Crabtree.
