EAST PRAIRIE -- Willis Lee Black, 69, died at 7:15 a.m. Dec. 2, 2011, in the East Prairie Nursing Center.
Born May 1, 1942, in Moline, Ill., son of the late Wilford Black, Pauline Posey Black Simpkins and J.T. Simpkins, he lived most of his life in Mississippi County where he was a retired truck driver.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the pre-Vietnam period, he was of the Protestant belief.
On Jan. 8, 1966, he married Betty Beyerbach who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sisters and one brother-in-law, Marilyn and Paul Haney of East Prairie and Patricia Gaddis of Poplar Bluff; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and step-father, he was also preceded in death by one son, Kelvin Lee Black, and one brother, Lawrence Black.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Monday at the Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie. David Dowdy will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
