SIKESTON - The Sikeston golf team defeated Notre Dame on Wednesday at the Bootheel Golf Course, 157-to-172.

"Sikeston showed a spark of the team I've expected they can be today," said Sikeston golf coach Rick Oetting. "It was warm and low wind today which help you feel good about being on the course."

E. C. Atchison and Matt Bain tied for medalist with two over par 38.

"They could have easily shot several stokes better if the putts had fallen instead of lipping out of the cup today," said Oetting. "That's the break of the game. "

Martin Schaefer shot a 39 and Jason Deere shot a 42. Notre Dame players scoring for the varsity were Will Lindman 40, Tyler Menz 43, Jon Obermark 44 and Clayton Eftink 45.

The Sikeston junior varsity got their second win of the season with a 189-204 victory. The jayvee team was led by Ed Pike's 43, Devin James and Ryan Dukes with 48 apiece and Zed Hagen and Logan Wagoner with 50 apiece.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on the road with a busy week at the Poplar Bluff Invitational on Monday.
