Denton perfect for NMCC

NEW MADRID -- The New Madrid County Central Lady Eagles softball team got a perfect game from pitcher Katie Denton and thumped Scott Central 15-0.

Denton struck out two batters and faced the minimum of nine batters before the game was called due to the run-rule in the 3rd inning.

Leading the way at the plate for the Lady Eagles was Heather Redd, who had two hits including a home run. Lauren Daniels, Autumn Walker, Megan Reinhart and Ashley Wrather also collected two hits.

NMCC (6-5) will host Oran on Friday in their last game of the season.

LEOPOLD -- The Oran Lady Eagles softball team jumped ahead of Leopold early and held on to beat the hosts 5-2 Wednesday afternoon.

Wendy Eftink got the win for Oran, pitching four innings allowing only four hits and five walks while striking out two.

Carmen Duncan relieved Eftink and pitched three innings to pick up the save. Duncan struck out five and walked one.

Oran was led at the plate by Erica Dirnberger who was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Lady Eagles are back in action again today when they travel to Chaffee.

LEOPOLD -- The Oran Eagles continued their winning ways pounding Leopold 12-0 Wednesday.

Austin Dumey got the win for the Eagles (14-2), throwing four shutout innings allowing only four hits and one walk while striking out two.

Matt Seyer went 2-for-5 at the plate with a double while Garrett Roslen was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Brent Graviett had a double and two RBIs while Craig Friga went 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

Oran will travel to Chaffee this afternoon.
