POPLAR BLUFF - The Sikeston Bulldogs golf team finish in 6th place at the Poplar Bluff Invitational.

According to head coach Rick Oetting, the one bright spot was junior E. C. Atchison, who finished in a tie for the 5th place medalist with a five-over par 76.

"I'm a little concerned for the performance our team has shown to date, we are usually starting to show improvement by mid-April and that hasn't happened this year," said Oetting. "The West Wood Hill course is a shot makers course and can be difficult, today it was difficult."

The Bulldogs finished sixth with a score of 335 consisting of Atchison's 76, Matt Bain 83, Martin Schaefer 86 and Derris Butler with 90.

Teams finishing in the trophy places were Poplar Bluff 295, Cape Girardeau 314 and Jonesboro Northwest 317. Medalist was Poplar Bluff's Jake Robertson with a two-under par 69. The Bulldogs travel to Dexter Tuesday for a tri-meet with Jackson and Dexter.
