Leon Marcus

BLOOMFIELD - Leon W. Marcus, 91, died Sept. 18, 2004, at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomfield.

Born Oct. 1, 1912, at Greenfield, Tenn., son of the late H.T. and Berniece Wallace Marcus, he attended the Fagus General Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Before retiring, he had been a factory worker and night watchman in Chicago.

On July 11, 1946, in Chicago, he married Mary Ruth Schrader who preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2004.

Survivors include: one daughter, Gloria Bell of Bloomfield; one brother, Claude Marcus of Greenfield; and four grandchildren, one stepgrandchild, six great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were: one son, Gaylord Leon Marcus; two brothers, Darrell Marcus and Paul Marcus; and one sister, Buna Pickens.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Gary Hancock officiating.

Burial followed in the Dexter Cemetery.
