SIKESTON -- Carrie Michelle Bailey and James "Jimmy" Drake Jr. were married in a 6 p.m. ceremony July 3, 2004, at Wesley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Rick Lasley performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Don and Marilyn Barnes of Sikeston and parents of the bridegroom are Karen Lawhorn of St. Louis and the late Jimmy Drake Sr.
Orchestra music was provided for the occasion under the direction of Gay French.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless bridal gown. The bodice was embellished with beads and iridescent sequins. Gathered at the waist on one side, bead and iridescent sequins continued down the side of the full a-line skirt to the bottom and around the hem. Her veil was secured with a tiara and she carried a bouquet of red, white and blue roses, complemented with other flowers and greenery. The bridal veil was made by the bride's grandmother, Jerry Lewis of Sikeston.
Maid of honor was Christina Wolf of Sikeston. Bridesmaids were Alyshia Lovel of Vanduser, Shannon Howard and Lisa Wiggins of Sikeston, Jennifer Abernathy of Cape Girardeau, Toni Tilley of Circle City and Shonel Kizer of Kansas City. Flower girls were Ashton Drake, daughter of the couple and Hayli Howard, daughter of David and Shannon Howard of Sikeston.
Chris Drake of Morehouse attended his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Steve Drake and David Howard of Sikeston, Brent Harris of Canalou, Jamie Scott of Portageville, Andy Barnes of Morehouse and Shaun Wolf of Sikeston. Ring Bearers were James "Trey" Drake III, son of the couple and Tyler Wolf, son of Shaun and Christina Wolf of Sikeston.
Ushers were Tim Johnson and Fred Wiggins of Sikeston and candlelighter was Andy Barnes of Sikeston.
Attending the guest book was Tammy Johnson of Sikeston. Rick Fladung of Benton was sound director and videographer was Mandy Fladung, also of Benton.
The wedding reception was held at the Semo Shrine Club, where guests were served by Candy Ward, Heather Barnes and Tammy Johnson of Sikeston. Wedding coordinator was Mary Barnes and reception coordinator was Ron Barnes, both of Sikeston.
Following a Caribbean cruise to Jamaica, Grand Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mr. and Mrs. Drake are making their home in Sikeston.
