Gladys Higgins
LENEXA, Kan. - Gladys M. Higgins died Nov. 17, 2003, in Lenexa.
She was born in Sikeston, Mo., and attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with her husband in Louisville, Ky. Mrs. Higgins served on several committees and graduated from the Womens Missionary Union (WMU) Training School. While in Sikeston, she served as secretary for the First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. After moving to Decatur, Ill, she was secretary for her husband for two associations and was also on the Illinois Baptist State Association (IBSA) Board of Directors for many years. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur where she served in various capacities.
Her husband, the Rev. Paul D. Higgins, preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Bob Daniels; a granddaughter, Angela Daniels; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Todd and Susan Daniels; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor Daniels, Ryan Daniels and Alex Daniels; and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Higgins' body was donated for medical research.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur.
