PUXICO - Thelma "Toots" Kuehn, 93, died Aug. 28, 2001, at the Puxico Nursing Center. Born Aug. 7, 1908, in Puxico, daughter of the late Walter Casey and Lula Mitchell Casey Fann, she was the first woman in Missouri to receive a pilot's license and promoted flying for women. PUXICO - Thelma "Toots" Kuehn, 93, died Aug. 28, 2001, at the Puxico Nursing Center.

Born Aug. 7, 1908, in Puxico, daughter of the late Walter Casey and Lula Mitchell Casey Fann, she was the first woman in Missouri to receive a pilot's license and promoted flying for women. She lived in Memphis, Tenn., most of her life before returning to Puxico three years ago.

On April 7, 1941, in Holly Springs, Miss., she married George Kuehn who preceded her in death on June 7, 1998.

Survivors include: one brother, Doug Fann of Puxico; two sisters, Alma Helton and Rita Campagna of Puxico; and several nieces and nephews.

One brother, Cecil Casey, also preceded her in death.

Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Puxico Cemetery with the Rev. Wiley McGhee of Puxico officiating.
