Traffic accident reported

PORTAGEVILLE - A New Madrid man sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident early today.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred at 12:30 a.m. on Route T, three miles south of Portageville, when an eastbound vehicle driven by Brian Box, 21, of Lilbourn failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a ditch. The vehicle then traveled into a bean field.

Injured was a passenger, 56-year-old Walker Thacker who was taken to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
