BERNIE -- Clarkton advanced to the championship game of the Bernie Tournament on Thursday with a 77-67 win over Risco in the semifinals.

Matt Trudell led the Reindeer with 23 points, followed by point guard Mikey Vegar with 22, Steven White with 15 and Kenny Goreman with 11.

"Clarkton has a pretty good team," said Risco coach Brandon Blankenship. "Their point guard is very good. He's an Australian foreign exchange student and he really makes them go."

Kyle Carlisle had another big night for Risco, scoring 32 in the loss. After an 18-18 stalemate in the first quarter, Clarkton outscored Risco 20-15 in the second quarter, 17-13 in the third, then 22-21 in the fourth.

"We didn't do the job defensively, and we shot ourselves in the foot on a lot of things," said Blankenship. "They actually had it up 18 at one point in the fourth, and we made a little run at the very end to get it back to 10. I was really pleased with the heart and the guys not quitting there at the end."

Risco didn't help its own cause at the foul line, shooting a dismal 17-of-32.

"If we shoot 65 or 70 percent, it's a one or two point game there at the end instead of 10," said Blankenship.

In the other semifinal game, Bernie upset top-seeded Campbell 64-50. Risco (1-1) will face Campbell on Saturday in the third place game at 6 p.m.

WOODLAND -- Top-seeded Advance and No. 2 Bloomfield won to advance to the Woodland Tournament finals.

Advance knocked off Leopold 56-29 and Bloomfield beat Delta 77-65. In the consolation bracket Meadow Heights beat Oak Ridge 86-56. Brad Adams led five double figure scorers for Meadow Heights with 17.

FARMINGTON -- Jackson rebounded from a loss in its Farmington Tournament opener to pick up its first win, beating Eureka 46-29. Jackson will play in the consolation final at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

POTOSI -- Perryville defeated North County 45-43 in the first round of pool play in the Potosi Tournament. Jared Oberndorfer led Perryville (1-0) with 18 points.
