Van Strickland Jr.

SIKESTON - Van Strickland Jr., 82, died Dec. 28, 2003, at his home.

Born July 14, 1921, in Grassy, son of the late Van and Willie Carmen Anderson Strickland Sr., he owned a Texaco Oil distributorship before retiring. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Sikeston, the Sikeston Masonic Lodge 310, and Order of the Eastern Star where he was Past Worthy Patron.

He married Bonnie Hazel; she preceded him in death Oct. 11, 1989.

Survivors include: one daughter, Gayle Strickland Green of Sikeston; and two grandsons, Thomas "Skip" Green and Van "Strick" Green, both of Sikeston.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at noon at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Tom Geers, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Sikeston Garden of Memories Cemetery.
