CHAFFEE - John Louis McClain, 75, died Aug. 9, 2002, at his home.

Born Sept. 13, 1926, in Hartzell, son of the late William Monroe and Floy Mae Devore McClain, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of the United Pentecostal Church in Advance. Before retiring, he was a machine operator for 20 years with the Sports Specialty Shoe Company in Chaffee and was a construction worker for Wilhelmi Brothers Construction in Joliet, Ill.

On Jan. 1, 1949, he married Dortha Gremar who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons, Michael McClain of Onarga, Ill., Mark McClain of Bradley, Ill., and Jeffrey McClain of St. Peters; two daughters, Janice Felderhoff of Coroam, N.Y., and Deanna Duncan of Cartersville, Ga.; and 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Six brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. Monday until service time at 2 p.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The Rev. Lee Cook will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery near Arbor.
