SIKESTON - Lillie Mae Lovelace Sides, 95, died Feb. 20, 2004, at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.
Born July 14, 1908, in Dyer County, Tenn., daughter of the late Albert and Minnie Lovelace, she was descended from early pioneer settlers, with one branch being Baptists who came over from Wales for religious freedom in the 1600s and was of the Baptist belief her whole life. A member of the First Families of Tennessee, she had two ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War.
On May 6, 1925, she married Robert "Bob" Sides who preceded her in death in Nov. 1978.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, James and Lois Sides of Sun City, Calif.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Helen Dye and George of Glendora, Calif., and Betty Hill of Sikeston; one sister, Reba Hodges of Springfield; one brother, Raymond Lovelace of the state of Arkansas; and 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
