DUDLEY - Kerby Gene Carpenter, 73, died Dec. 25, 2003, at his daughter's home in Oxford, Mich.

Born Aug. 13, 1930, at Dudley, son of the late Herby and Catherine Walker Carpenter, he had been an inspector for Pontiac Motors in Pontiac, Mich., and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

On July 3, 1950, at Piggott, Ark., he married Wanda Bernice Parks who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Stanley Joe Carpenter of Dudley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and John Garrett and Marsha and Bill Rotundo of Oxford; two brothers, Richard Carpenter of Dudley and Phillip Dale Carpenter of House Springs; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and special friends, Ab and Becky Fields of Dexter.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Carrol Michael Carpenter; and one sister, Ilene Ruth Carpenter.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Larry Ward will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dudley Cemetery.
