CAPE GIRARDEAU - Harriett Ann Merrill, 55, died Dec. 23, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Feb. 3, 1948, in Advance, adopted daughter of the late Delmar S. and Inah Lou Jordan Merrill Fugier, she was a resident at the Heartland Care and Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau. She was of the Methodist belief and, in spite of being disabled with multiple sclerosis, she graduated from the University of Oklahoma at Norman on July 31, 1995, with a bachelor of arts degree.

Survivors include: three close cousins, Dr. Ed Masters of Sikeston, Charlotte Masters Newton of Kansas City and Carolyn Jenkins of Tempe, Ariz.; and other relatives and friends.

One brother preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Shelbina Cemetery in Shelbina. The Rev. Virgil Clow, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Shelbina, will officiate.

Nunnelee Funeral Chapel of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
