SIKESTON -The Dye Hotel at Kingshighway and Malone was sold last week by George Dye to Marvin Ralph. The property was an investment property at a reported sale price of $18,000.


SIKESTON - Mrs. E.D. Moore entertained at a party Monday afternoon in honor of her son, Marshall's seventh birthday anniversary.

SIKESTON - Donald Bohannon, vice president and cashier of the Planters Bank, has been named chairman for the Scott County Heart Fund Drive, Phil Waldman Jr., area chairman, announced.

SIKESTON - Over 300 Episcopalians from the eastern half of Missouri gathered in Sikeston Friday and Saturday for the 144th annual convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri. St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Sikeston and the other five churches of the Southern Convention of the diocese hosted the convention.

SIKESTON - Students from the Sikeston Middle School and Sikeston Junior High School gathered in the Junior High cafeteria Saturday morning to test their science skills in the annual Science Olympiad Tournament. Bill Rogers was among students who dropped an egg, hoping its protective layer would keep it from breaking. Students also had to hit the circle with their eggs.


SCOTT CITY - Officials of Casino Magic likely will decide the first week of December whether to seek a second election in Scott County that could allow it to establish a riverboat gaming development at the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority.
