CAPE GIRARDEAU - Albert C. Schabbing, 84, died at 8:35 a.m. Dec. 4, 2003, at his home.
Born June 10, 1919, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Joseph A. ad Mary Katharine Kohlfeld Schabbing, he was a lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau and operated a dairy farm west of town. A member of St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, he was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1111 and Thomas A. Longen Assembly, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a 4-H leader and past SEMO Fair Board director.
On Oct. 25, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, he married Edna Lucille Job who preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2003.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jamie Schabbing of Metropolis, Ill.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Richard Menz of Sikeston, Barbara and Joe Diebold and Cathy and David Moran of Kelso and Patricia and William Baker of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Marie Laurentius of Cape Girardeau; and 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Three brothers also preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 pm.. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel, where parish prayers at 6 p.m. will be followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Cathedral with the Rev. Tom Kiefer and the Rev. James Seyer officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
