SIKESTON - Mrs. James Ferrell entered the hospital on the 13th and a girl was born to her on the following day.

SIKESTON - Bill Volner, caller of the Wagon Wheel Square Dance Club of Sikeston, called a dance for the Squares and Pairs Square Dance Club at the Creve Coeur Country Club in St. Louis Sunday afternoon.

ADVANCE - Advance Fabricators Inc., a new factory for fabricating aluminum and plastic parts for windows, plans to open by Feb. 15. The facility is located at the intersection of First and Vine streets, inside the former shoe factory warehouse which has been remodeled.


NEW MADRID - Fifteen students attending physics class at New Madrid County Central High School took and successfully completed the Navy's Nuclear Power Program entrance test. According to Navy Recruiter Petty Officer 2nd Class Harold McConnell, the students all passed with flying colors.

MALDEN - What happened was exactly what Sikeston coach Fred Johnson had warned about in his pregame summary of Friday night's Sikeston-Malden matchup. Malden had fun. A relaxed Green Wave team played a balanced attack at both ends of the floor, kept its composure and crashed the boards consistently, in an 83-73 upending of Sikeston.


SIKESTON - A cultural center could become part of the Sikeston community, if residents are willing to add their support to the project. Plans for the proposed Cultural Center have been drawn up for the Sikeston Little Theatre, land donated and the first $100,000 of the needed $700,000 is in the bank. Members of the theatre are seeking more local assistance.
