Bobby Owens

EAST PRAIRIE - Bobby C. Owens, 69, died at 6:30 a.m. Aug. 31, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Dec. 1, 1932, in Mississippi County, son of the late George Holloway and Virgie Mae Husk Owens, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was a member of the First Baptist Church in East Prairie. He retired as a chief master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was employed by Burkhart Foam Company in Cairo, Ill., until retiring in 1996.

On Feb. 16, 1952, in Las Vegas, Nev., he married Doris Evelyn Marshall who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Steve Owens of Titusville, Fla., and Gary Owens of Williamsburg, Iowa; two brothers, George W. Owens of Ventura, Calif., and Gary H. Owens of Riverside, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

One daughter, Joni Owens, preceded him in death.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home with George White, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial followed in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Kelly Barker, Pete Story, Gene Hall, Leonard Baker, Ryan Owens and Seth Owens.
