SIKESTON -- A subject is in custody for charges of burglary at a Sikeston business Monday night.

According to a news release from the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, officers were dispatched to HabCare at 216 Edmondson just before 8 p.m. Monday in reference to a call from a citizen who saw a male subject enter the business after hours.

The officers confronted the subject as he began to come out the front door. After he spotted the officers, the subject reportedly slammed the door and ran back inside. Officers pursued the subject, who then jumped out of a window and ran away.

DPS officers caught the subject a couple of blocks away on Kingshighway and took him into custody. Officers tased him, and the subject also refused to give his name upon arrest.

The subject was transported by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Centre, where he was treated for cuts he received when he jumped through the window at HabCare.

As of press time, he remained in custody at DPS, pending burglary charges through Scott County.
