Ines Nickell

SIKESTON - Ines Nickell, 77, died Jan. 29, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Jan. 23, 1926, in Bernie, daughter of the late Robert and Mary King, she had worked for the International Shoe Company in Sikeston, was a cook for the Country Kitchen at Barkett's and had also been employed by the Florsheim Shoe Company in Cape Girardeau before retiring.

On July 3, 1948, she married Merlin Nickell who preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2000.

Survivors include: one son, Steve Nickell of Lexington; one daughter, Sandra Younger of Sikeston; one sister, Dorothy McConnell of Sikeston; four grandchildren, Shawn Nickell, stationed with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan, Scott Nickell and Seth Nickell of Lexington and Matt Younger of Hillsboro; and one niece, Wanda Blanchard of Wappapello.

Two sisters and one half brother also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Randy Thomas, pastor of the First General Baptist Church in Morehouse, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
