ESSEX - Shirley Rodgers, 65, died Nov. 24, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 23, 1937, in Charter Oak, daughter of the late Charles Benjamin and Ora Mae Hyten Burnett, she lived in the Parma and Essex areas all her life. She was employed by Brown Shoe Company for many years and retired from Arvin Meritor.
On Sept. 12, 1953, in Bloomfield, she married James Earl Rodgers who preceded her in death on July 1, 1995.
Survivors include: five daughters, Vicky Helgemo and Jamie Curd of Dexter, Darlene Bodi of New Madrid, Kathy Ritch of Grayridge and Christine Collier of Kewanee; four brothers, Doyle Burnett, Tony Burnett and Gary Burnett of Harrison, Ark., and Darrell Burnett of Risco; two sisters, Joan Cato of Holladay, Tenn., and Lana Seabaugh of Dexter; and 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Pleasant Burnett, Tommy Ray Burnett and Roger Dale Burnett.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Everett Bishop of Dexter and the Rev. David Hardin of Essex will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
