Lorene Powell

SIKESTON - Lorene W. Powell, 67, died at 5:20 a.m. April 20, 2002, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.

Born Feb. 12, 1935, in Pope County, Ark., daughter of the late Grady and Mary Paraline Bratton Darter, she was a certified nurse aide and was of the Mormon belief.

She married Gordon William Powell Sr. in 1957 and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1995.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Lester and Carla Powell of Sikeston and Gordon and Gerri Powell of Benton; three brothers, Jerry Darter of Imperial, Kenneth Darter of Sikeston and Norman Junior Darter of Dexter; one sister, Vanetta Sindle of Sikeston; and four grandchildren.

One sister, Betty Ergle, preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. J.D. McClard, pastor of Hooe Baptist Church in Oran, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Lester Powell, Gordon Powell, Timothy Greenway, Mike Nelson, Blake Sindle and Justin Sindle.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Leslie Ann Powell, Andrew Powell, Tyler Powell and Tory Powell.
