Charity Ward

HAYWOOD CITY - Charity M. Ward, 82, died Oct. 29, 2002, at her son's home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Oct. 2, 1920, in Pickens, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Milton and Elizabeth Young Chappell.

On Dec. 6, 1941, she married Robert Ward who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: 12 sons, John Ward and Ervin Ward of Cape Girardeau, Robert Ward Jr., Frank Ward and Louis Ward of St. Louis, Leo Ward of East St. Louis, Ill., Lonnie Ward of Indianapolis, Ind., Joe Ward and Philemon Ward of Florissant, Winfred Ward of Sikeston, Stephen Ward of Dellwood and Ashley Ward of Haywood City; one daughter, Pauline Sheila Ward Otey of St. Charles; one brother, Abel Chappell of Oxnard, Calif.; one sister, Pauline Clark of Marion, Ind.; and 30 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bell City Church of God in Christ, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday. Elder David Pullen, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the J.C. Pullen Memorial Garden at Bell City.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
